Veteran Ghanaian actress and television personality Grace Omaboe, popularly known as Maame Dokono, has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Pete Edochie Legacy Project Gala in Ghana, according to YEN.com.gh.
The award was presented to the veteran entertainer by Council of State member Hon. Maxwell Boakye at the gala and grand unveiling of the Pete Edochie Legacy Project on Sunday, October 4, 2026, according to event coverage by YEN.com.gh.
Her career later expanded beyond drama. She became widely associated with By the Fireside, the Ghana Television programme in which she told Ananse folklore to children in a fireside storytelling setting. The programme became one of the notable parts of her television legacy and connected her work in entertainment with Ghanaian storytelling traditions.
The latest honour comes at a gala centred on the legacy of Nigerian screen legend Pete Edochie. The Pete Edochie Legacy Project was launched in Ghana to celebrate his contribution to African cinema, culture and storytelling.
For Omaboe, the Lifetime Achievement Award recognises a career that has moved across television drama, film, music and presenting, while making her one of the recognisable figures in Ghana’s entertainment history.
The honour also places her among veteran African entertainers whose work has remained part of the cultural memory of audiences across generations.
