The 2025 BET Awards was more than a celebration of entertainment — it was a defining night for one of hip-hop’s most influential voices. Kendrick Lamar emerged as the biggest winner, claiming five awards and reinforcing his status as a lyrical powerhouse and cultural leader.
Held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on June 9, the 25th anniversary of the BET Awards was filled with vibrant tributes, standout performances, and heartfelt moments. But Lamar’s clean sweep — including Album of the Year, Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, and Video of the Year for “Not Like Us” anchored the night.
The Compton native also earned Lyricist of the Year and Video Director of the Year (shared with Dave Free), making him the evening’s most decorated nominee. His wins came as no surprise, given the widespread critical and cultural impact of his 2024 project GNX and the viral success of his visuals.
